I am really kind of glad that I moved my babies to the mountain when I did. The flies suck, sure, but there's tons of space and there's a huge ridge on one side and a big bluff down the other side. Given that this "mountain" is more of a big hill, it doesn't get snow and it does still get rain, but that ridge and the general orientation of it provided great protection against the recent tornados that swept through Alabama. I feel extremely blessed that my ponies came through hale and unharmed, and even happier that my pastures didn't take a hard beating. No fences to mend, the barn is still in one piece, and my new horse trailer is intact and undamaged :) Thank goodness for natural protection from natural disasters! It looked like nothing had happened up on our little mountain the day after it all happened, yet there was destruction in the form of enormous old oak trees down across the road even right at the foot of our mountain. Blessed, I tell you, blessed.

Chitty Chatty Pony Pony
I think it's just the funniest thing that Ivan is so talkative at meal time. He comes RUNNING in from the pasture, singing for his supper :) It's so cute!

Equine Therapy
Sometimes, you just need a "kickback day." You know, when you just blow off work, blow off workouts, just take off and live a little. Today, Deb and I rode out to explore the trails close to my new place. It was gorgeous out there! I wish we'd gotten more, better quality photos, but oh well. Ha, you can tell in the photo of Classy Lady and me that today was a "no makeup" kind of day :)

New digs!
So I did it! I moved my horses to my own little patch of land. It's the 40 acres mentioned in the "Interesting Possibility" post from a couple days ago. I am excited! I dropped off my ponies and my horse trailer tonight, and over the next day or two, my friend Amy and I (and whoever else I can shanghai into the bargain, ha!) are going to dig out the damn crush that I spent so much on to put in my stalls at Oglesby. Oh, and for the record, I can't STAND the old barn manager. She's a crusty old bitch. There. I said it. Ha.

Ivan's First Spring 2011 BATH!
Haha, post bath, Ivan was rather wet and disgruntled, but he was CLEAN and velvety soft :)
Lesson today!
After how fabulous Ivan was yesterday during round pen work and our hack out afterwards, I'm looking forward to today's lesson. Debbie is coming out and we're going to see if he's improved since last time despite a break due to my work and a crapload of rain. If yesterday's any indication, I think today will be a good day :)

*angry squawks*
I really need to learn how to keep my mouth shut when someone is wrong and just LET THEM be wrong >:( It just really annoys the piss out of me, though, when some idiot starts spouting nonsense that I can challenge them on from a biochemical standpoint and they just cannot be reasoned with. It's like the cliffs of Dover screaming at the Rock of Gibraltar to get the F*** out of their way. We come to a stalemate, and it's like trying to move cliffs and canyons. I can't stand unjust, untrue, or unfair statements, and I certainly don't like it when someone goes out of their way to get in my way and be routinely unpleasant. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My day just got better :)
I recant my negative feelings towards Intervet yesterday :) I got very frustrated yesterday when I received a dog toy instead of a horse toy after sending in my horse wormer UPC codes for the Safe-Guard Jolly Ball coupon offer. However, Cheri Carlson of Intervet customer service is FABULOUS and they should give her a raise! She was great about helping me get my coupon offer reprocessed to get my HORSE toy mailed out to me since they sent me a dog toy by accident. Yay, Ivan is getting an apple scented jolly ball! Now maybe that rascal will stop playing with everything else that isn't bolted down.
The Horse | Tennessee Walking Horse Farm Owners Suspended
The Horse Tennessee Walking Horse Farm Owners Suspended Woot! It's about time they started cracking down on and making examples out of the people that participate in the practice of "soring". I have had a problem with that for a long time, so it's awesome that they're finally enforcing the Horse Protection Act and punishing those that violate it.

Aggravation
Little rant today. I get extremely irritated when my barn manager tries to talk to me/boss me around about things that she clearly knows nothing about. I don't even have the energy to argue with her currently, but she makes ignorant claims about stuff that I could challenge her on from a biochemist standpoint. Don't make stupid claims in front of the biochemist who can make you look like a fool. I am running out of patience, but I'm keeping my cool as best I can. She's an older, uneducated woman who has very set-in-her-ways ideas, and I'm trying to avoid barn drama as best as I can. It really grates at me when she says really stupid things that I know 100% for sure are wrong.

Coupons!
Yay for Purina coupons! I got my quarterly and my 60-day Challenge coupons. Boo for Purina feed prices going up! My feed was previously $19.75 a bag, but now it's $21 a bag! It just keeps going up every time I go to buy it :( No bueno!!!!

Teefies!!!!
My babies got their teefies done :) Gary Cline is a fabulous equine dentist! He was great with my horses, and it was really a relief to know that he did their teeth properly. I inadvertently ended up taking a lot more of Classy Lady getting hers done than of Ivan because Ivan was a bit more fussy. I ended up helping with him a little and then the rest of his dental I spent helping Deb unload hay and feed off her truck once Ivan had settled down some.
